Dartmouth Park - April 9th 2011

This was a small demonstration on behalf of a Local residents association - The Friends of Dartmouth park - to promote the opening of renovated facilities in the park such as new playground equipment and a new Multi Use Games Area.

We were contacted by the Friends of Dartmouth park and agreed to put on a demonstration for them as part of the community event to advertise and promote the use of the new facilities.

Fortunately the unusualy hot spring we were enjoying meant that this outdoor event could go on after all, and the weather was no barrier to people turning out for the celebrations.

The event was very informal with various activities going on throughout the afternoon, including our demonstration and taster sessions as can be seen from the accompanying photographs. Other events included football skills in the Multi Use Games Area, stalls selling various wares and the almost inevitable bouncy castle.

With its entrance just off Bickerton road, Dartmouth park is something of a hidden gem and very much a local's park. It is a steeply sloping park, though there was a flat bit for the Tai Chi and it has a most wonderful panoramic view across London.

The park is a Site of Borough Grade 1 Importance to Nature Conservation featuring a grassed sloping bank of reservoir as well as native hedgerow and grass meadows.
